Message Notes

2 Corinthians 4:6 (NLT) — 6 For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.

Hopelessness and despair is a place of darkness.  Hopelessness is a place where you can’t see a way out of your desperate situation. Despair is the complete loss or absence of hope.

‘Christmas is a time when we are reminded not only that we have hope, but who our hope is —  JESUS!

John 1:6–9 (NLT) — 6 God sent a man, John the Baptist, 7 to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. 8 John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. 9 The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

THE LIGHT Of GOD GIVES HOPE IN DARKNESS

Jesus Came To Shine In This Dark World

John 12:46 (NLT) — 46 I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in Me will no longer remain in the dark.

Hope itself is like a star – not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.  - Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Those Who Trust In His Light Will No Longer Remain In The Dark

John 12:35–36 (TPT) — 35 Jesus replied, “You will have the light shining with you for only a little while longer. While you still have me, walk in the light, so that the darkness doesn’t overtake you. For when you walk in the dark you have no idea where you’re going. 36 So believe and cling to the light while I am with you, so that you will become children of light.”

THE LIGHT OF GOD ILLUMINATES OUR EYES TO SEE THE HOPE OF HIS CALLING

Ephesians 1:18–20 (TPT) — 18 I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling —that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones! 19 I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you! This is the mighty power 20 that was released when God raised Christ from the dead and exalted him to the place of highest honor and supreme authority in the heavenly realm!

The Light Of God Illuminates The Eyes Of Our Imagination (Understanding)…

The Light Of God Flood Us Until We Experience The Full Revelation Of The Hope Of His Calling

Ephesians 1:18 (TPT) —  I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of His calling

…until we experience the full revelation of the hope of His calling

…until we experience the wealth of God’s glorious inheritance

…until we experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power….

THE LIGHT OF GOD SHINES IN OUR HEART SO THAT WE CAN KNOW THE GLORY OF GOD

2 Corinthians 4:6 (NLT) — 6 For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 3:16–18 (TPT) — 16 But the moment one turns to the Lord with an open heart, the veil is lifted and they see. 17 Now, the “Lord” I’m referring to is the Holy Spirit, and wherever he is Lord, there is freedom. 18 We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
